ABOUT DR. JENNA COPPER
I earned my Ph.D. in 2013, and from that experience, I found my passion in education.
I AM SO GLAD YOU'RE HERE
During my first meeting with the director of my doctoral program, he asked me why I wanted to pursue my Ph.D. My answer was easy: “I want to research.”
So, I walked down the aisle to marry the love of my life, and then, the next day, I walked into my first day of class.
I taught ELA full-time during that time and defended my dissertation while I was six months pregnant. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.
Through this experience, I found my passion: sharing the educational research I conduct in my classroom to educators all over the world. Since then, I have published in journals and textbooks and presented at conferences, like NCTE, SITE, and PCTELA.
Then, in 2018, I opened a chance message from a teacher whom I met on the internet asking if I wanted to present at a workshop that she was creating.
With my daughter, Gigi, in tow, we headed to The Story Shop in Monroe, Georgia for the very first Keeping the Wonder Workshop. It was a magical day, and I knew Ashley Bible‘s idea for a one-time workshop at a whimsical bookstore was going to be something much more.
I still teach high school at our local school where my husband teaches high school social studies and our daughters, Gianna and Camilla go to school. And, I continue to pursue my passion to help educators create engaging and effective research-based lessons (so they can be superstar teachers AND enjoy time with their loved ones).
